You are important
Hi mama I am talking to you! You just had a baby. That was a lot of work. Your body went through a lot and deserves to be taken care of. There are so many things that happen after birth to your body why not take care of it? Enter a Postpartum Doula. I had Alyssa of Golden Light Doula explain why it is important for you to look into one. She is located in New Jersey and would love to connect with you.
About Me

Hi, I’m Alyssa Vanderhoof, the owner of Golden Light Doula. I’m a wife, mom of three, dog mom, and enjoy crafting or random projects around the house during my free time. We have ducks and chickens too and I love learning about the plants that pop up in my yard since I do not have a green thumb. Recently, I found mugwort that I turned into salves for my family, and we have milkweed hosting a few monarch caterpillars!
About My Doula Business
Golden Light Doula was started so I could be the person I wish I had after my births. It is such a challenging time physically and mentally and I’m honored to be part of it to lighten the load and answer any questions. I serve families in a 50 mile radius from 07832 which covers parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania with in-home postpartum support up until the first year after birth. My work centers around nurturing the entire family. I offer gentle guidance with infant care, breastfeeding support, meal prep, light household help, and—most importantly—emotional support. My goal is to help parents rest, heal, and feel confident while navigating life with a newborn.
Why Postpartum Support Matters
So much focus is put on pregnancy and birth, but the postpartum period often doesn’t get the attention it deserves. New parents need time to recover physically, adjust emotionally, and bond with their baby. A postpartum doula provides that bridge—offering reassurance, resources, and practical help so families feel cared for instead of overwhelmed. Having someone who is calm, nonjudgmental, and experienced in your home can make all the difference in reducing stress and increasing confidence.
Another option some families explore for their recovery is placenta encapsulation. This is the process of preparing the placenta into capsules to be taken postpartum. Many parents choose it for the potential benefits, such as increased energy, mood support, and replenishing nutrients after birth. I offer safe, placenta encapsulation and tincture services for families who are interested in this kind of support.
What I’d Love People to Know
Postpartum support isn’t a luxury—it’s a form of community care that has existed for centuries around the world. In our modern culture, parents are often expected to “bounce back” quickly and do everything on their own, but the truth is: we aren’t meant to do this alone. Whether it’s for a few hours a week or more ongoing support, having a doula can bring peace of mind, more rest, and a smoother transition into parenthood.
